Let Them Talk
The voices are everywhere and they always have an opinion.
Opinion: a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
The opinions of certain people in our lives have a major impact on us. They can even hold us back from doing what we really want to do. Daily, even at this moment, there is a dream being killed by someone’s opinion. There is nothing wrong with giving someone your opinion, but don’t make your personal opinion appear like a fact, because it’s not. It is great to hear advice from people who have experienced life in different capacities. They have certain wisdom and lessons we can learn from, but don’t let them hold you back. Use their advice as guidance or as motivation.
Scenario: You talk about what you want to do and the opinions and pessimistic thoughts come out.
“That’s not realistic.”
“You can’t make money doing that.”
“Its never been done before.”
Those are all excuses, yes excuses. If you really want something, you will do whatever it takes to get there, even if it means doing it alone.
Good things happen everyday, but great things take time.
Ever heard of Walt Disney? He had a vision of changing the world through his cartoons and parks. He believed he could bring joy to the world through art.
He heard voice after voice telling him why his vision of creating an animation studio would never work. He heard the closest people around him doubt his ideas and passion.
He chose to be brave and take the risk to follow his dream. He moved to California with little money in his pocket and no concrete plan, all he had was passion and the willingness to work. Sometimes, that’s all we need.
He went on to change the world and bring joy to families all over the world like he had envisioned as a child. Walt Disney changed the world, he believed in himself, he strived for the “impossible” and laid down the foundation for artists everywhere. This world would not be the same without Walt Disney.
You will have the closest people around you doubt you. LET THEM TALK. While they talk, we work until the job is done. You have a gift to give to the world, just like Walt Disney.
My personal advice to you: Live like Walt Disney, and strive to change the world.
